The Carolina Kaftan is cut long in a soft cotton mix and falls straight from the shoulder. It has no sleeves. Instead each side opens into a wide wing that runs the full length of the garment and is attached at the shoulder, so the whole kaftan moves as one piece when you do.
Raw jute trims run the length of both wings at about 5 cm wide, and along the side seams at about 1 cm, with a hint of lurex worked through them.
The neckline is round and fastens with small ties at the back. The back waist is elasticated, and a pair of ties attach at the waist and fasten at the front. A separate soft jersey slip hangs inside and lifts out whenever you want it to.
It comes in white with caramel jute trims, in sizes S/M and L/XL. Our models are 175 cm and wear S/M.
What are the wings at the sides?
Each side of the kaftan is cut as a single wide panel that runs from the shoulder to the hem and is attached only at the shoulder. They hang close when you stand still and lift away from the body when you walk, which is where the shape of this piece comes from.
How much of the arm does the Carolina Kaftan cover?
About 25 cm. The wings fall across the top of the arm from the shoulder, so the upper arm is covered and the forearm is left free.
How does the Carolina Kaftan fit?
It falls loose from the shoulder. The back waist is elasticated so it draws itself in behind without pulling, and the ties attach at the waist and fasten at the front, which lets you set the shape yourself. Left untied it hangs straight.
How does the lining work?
It is a separate soft jersey slip that hangs inside the kaftan rather than being stitched into it, so you can take it out. With the slip in place the kaftan is opaque and reads as a dress. Lift it out and the kaftan becomes a cover up to wear over a swimsuit.
What is the jute trim?
A raw jute tape with a hint of lurex running through it, in caramel against the white. It follows the full length of both wings at about 5 cm wide, and the side seams at about 1 cm.
Where does the Carolina Kaftan belong?

Delivery
Baruni use international couriers to deliver your orders. This typically takes 1 to 2 days from order in the UAE, and 3 to 5 days for other countries. We usually dispatch within 24 hours.
If you leave your email address at checkout, we will send you a tracking number as soon as your order leaves us, so you can follow its progress.
We also write to you before we ship, to check the size you have chosen is the right one for you. If you think it may not be, reply to that email with your measurements and we will confirm before your dress leaves the atelier.

Returns
You have 15 days from receiving your order to send a piece back to us. It must be unworn and unaltered, with its tags, labels and packaging.
Write to info@baruni.co with your order number and we will send you the return address. Return shipping is arranged and paid by you, and our original delivery cost is deducted from the refund.
Full price pieces are refunded to your original payment method.
Outlet pieces are not refunded. They are returned for store credit, valid for one year on anything on the site.
If we alter a piece at your request, or adjust it to your measurements before it is sent, it cannot be returned or exchanged. We will always tell you what we propose to change and we never alter anything without your confirmation first.
If a size is not right, message us before you send it back. We can often tell you which size to take instead.
