About Us
Baruni is a luxury occasionwear label founded in Dubai in 2009 by designer Fadwa Baruni. Every collection since has been designed by her.

The Designer
I trained in art and fashion design at Edinburgh College of Art, after an earlier career in engineering. That order matters. Engineering taught me structure, proportion and how a thing is actually built, and it is why a Baruni dress holds its own shape on the body rather than relying on the woman to hold it. I still source every fabric myself and guide every stage of production.
Nothing is impossible. We have to keep learning, because the moment we stand still we start going backwards.
The Collections
I design for the occasions that matter. Wedding guest dresses, evening gowns for galas and black tie, mother of the bride outfits, and festive pieces for Ramadan and Eid. Alongside them, elevated daywear, resort wear and kaftans.
The Atelier
Most Baruni garments are made in Dubai, in house, by a team I have trained closely. Several of my tailors have been with me for more than a decade and have become master cutters and pattern makers. We develop our own colours and custom weaves, and every garment is lined in something breathable, so it is as comfortable inside as it is beautiful outside. I would rather a woman forget what she is wearing by the second hour of an evening than be reminded of it.
The Shirt Gown
The shirt gown is our signature, and the piece we are best known for. It has the structure of a shirt and the presence of a gown, and its buttons let a woman decide her own coverage without ever looking flashy. Because it goes on last, it does not disturb hair or makeup already done. It is the clearest expression of how I think: show personality rather than skin, be striking in a classy way, never a flashy one.
The Fit
Our dresses run XS to XL, and our kaftans are free size, currently fitting up to XXL. Every style has its own measurement chart rather than one generic size guide, because the cut differs from piece to piece. Before anything is dispatched we confirm your size with you personally. Send your bust, waist and hip measurements to info@baruni.co or on WhatsApp to +971 50 376 0856 and we will reply within one working day. If you are between sizes, we recommend the larger. Here is how to measure yourself.
Where to Find Baruni
Baruni is carried by Farfetch, Harvey Nichols in Saudi Arabia and Doha, Galeries Lafayette Doha, Printemps Doha, Tryano Abu Dhabi, Incanto Bahrain and Rubaiyat Saudi Arabia, alongside a number of independent boutiques. The full collection is here at baruni.co, which ships worldwide from Dubai.
Many of our pieces are still worn, and still complimented, fifteen years after they were bought. I design against trends rather than with them, which is why the same dress still works a decade later. That is the only measure of a dress I care about.
